ISP Internode has brought uplink speeds on broadband services delivered over Tasmania's NBN network up to the minimum national standards proposed in the NBN Co business case last month.
The ISP said it would boost the uplink on its 25 Mbps service from 2 Mbps to 5 Mbps.
The big winners, however, were customers that had opted for higher-speed broadband plans.
Customers on the old 50/4 Mbps plans would now get uplink speeds of 20 Mbps – and those on the 100 Mbps plan would see their upload speeds go from 8 Mbps to a superfast 40 Mbps.
"The upgrades will commence from Saturday, January 8, and should be complete within two weeks," an Internode spokesman said.
"Internode will provide this upload speed increase at no extra cost, as an automatic upgrade for its NBN customers in Tasmania."
