Engineering consulting firm Aurecon has welcomed former Newcrest and Toll Group IT executive Carl Duckinson into its fold as global chief information officer following the recent departure of Sean Elwick.
Duckinson joined the company this month after an eight-month stint as Toll's CIO in the wake of John Ansley's resignation late last year.
Prior to his almost two-year term at Toll - where he was originally engaged on a specific technology transformation program - Duckinson spent seven years as the chief information officer at Newcrest Mining. He has also worked in IT at BHP Billiton and solutions provider Avanade.
“I am delighted to welcome Carl Duckinson to lead our IT team globally and to continue to drive digital and technology transformation within the firm,” Aurecon CEO Andrew Muller said in a statement late last week.
“Information technology is a key enabler for Aurecon as it is fundamental to the successful execution of our business strategy, particularly in relation to Aurecon’s commitment to global collaboration and work-sharing.”
Duckinson indicated his immediate priority would be on 'harnessing the opportunities' presented by digital disruption.
He will join Aurecon's chief digital officer and chief innovation officer with a seat at the executive table.
Former Aurecon CIO Sean Elwick moved on from the firm in July and is providing technology and digital strategy consulting services to businesses. He spent almost four years in the role.
